Girl Scouts Troop 35122 Paints for Farmington, Maine October 13, 2019

This afternoon we painted with a wonderful Girl Scout troop at the Aspetuck Lodge in Easton. They invited a few other troops to participate with them.

These are some of the young women from the troop who are our hosts for this event.  As a troop, they have decided to paint for the Firefighters, First Responders, and the community of Farmington, Maine.

Click on a photo to be taken to a larger view.

Here is some background: On the morning of September 16th, a Farmington fire captain was killed and six other fire fighters and the building's maintenance supervisor were severely burned in an explosion that leveled the home of LEAP Inc., a nonprofit which serves adults with developmental disabilities, and destroyed nearby homes while scattering debris for more than a mile.

The hearts painted by these scouts will join other hearts that have been recently painted at many local painting parties and will be brought up to Farmington, Maine by Patti (the Newtown chapter president), myself, and a few volunteers the weekend of November 2nd.

Another troop has arrived.

The host troop calls the meeting to order. The Girl Scout pledge and the Girl Scout Law are said, as well as the Pledge of Allegiance.

Ahh, I remember this well from my time as a Girl Scout!

Let the painting and creativity begin!

These young women are so amazing that their moms can just sit and chat and have some fun. No supervision needed, unless it's of the moms... just kidding, the moms were very well behaved too.

10/14  Today was such a glorious day, that I decided to mod podge these spectacular hearts outside.
