Painting for Our Veterans October 9th, 2018

Tonight was my first night flying solo. Connie has moved to South Carolina, although she will be flying in from time to time to visit, and I had to run the show. Not easy for someone who likes to stay behind the scenes taking photographs. I hope I did a good job doing both, meeting and greeting, talking to everyone and still getting some good photos in.  We had quite a few new faces, and hopefully they had a good time and will return.

Last night we were painting for Veterans. One of our team members, Joanne, also volunteers with a group called The Dream Team Moms. They are a group of women who sew pillow cases and stockings and deliver the to Veterans in the hospital each December. This year they have permission to deliver their stockings to Veterans who are in the VA Hospital in West Haven, a place I have great respect for. The hearts we painted tonight will be put into the stockings they sew, along with toiletries and other goodies they get donated, and will be delivered in December. What makes this group even more special is that one of the mom's is a Veteran herself.

Connie called up and bought the team wine or dessert, depending which we loved more.

The Dream Team Moms talked about who they were, how they came to be, and why they do this.
