Painting for Veterans and Victims of the Manchester, England Bombing

We plan in advance what we would like to paint for, but sometimes, current events takes precedent and we change our plans. That is what happened with our June event. We had it planned to paint for our Veterans with the Fourth of July coming up next month, but when the bombing in London after the Ariana Grande concert, we felt we needed to open up our event to allow our volunteers the opportunity to paint for either or both, and many did.

Painting at the Victoria Soto School

We were able to gain sponsorship from Stratford Orthodontics so that every child in the Victoria Soto School would be able to paint a Heart of Hope. The classes were able to choose where they wanted their hearts to go. The second grade chose to send their hearts to an orphanage in Haiti called Be Like Brit. Parent volunteers came in to help and it became a true family and community event.

These are photos from the week of May 1st.
